Debbie Millman Honored with 2025 Audio Vanguard Award
On Air Fest proudly announces the recipient of the 2025 Audio Vanguard Award is Debbie Millman. Millman is a writer, designer, educator, artist, brand consultant and host of the podcast Design Matters, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
As the creator of the first-ever podcast about design, Millman has built an extraordinary archive of interviews, masterfully bridging the worlds of design, art, film, and audio. Her On Air Fest stage interviews have featured remarkable guests, including Roxane Gay, David Remnick and Ira Glass.
The award presentation took place Thursday, February 20th at Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn, NY and was followed by an in-depth interview about Millman's creative career, conducted by Ashley C. Ford.

Each year, On Air Fest honors a creative icon whose work has advanced the culture of audio. The Audio Vanguard Award recognizes a creator whose contribution to the storytelling medium has inspired a creative legacy. The award is presented each year, and accompanied by a presentation in front of a live audience of storytellers, industry insiders and fans. Past winners include Ira Glass, Terry Gross, Jad Abumrad, Audie Cornish and Malcolm Gladwell.
